MORE UPDATES: Democrat Congressman Assaults Student- Caught on Video!

Update 2: Democrats have decided to leap to the defense of their own by attacking the messenger of the video, in this case Breitbart. Politico is reporting that the Democrats have released “key talking points” in an effort to discredit the video and somehow shed an acceptable light on the thuggishness of one of their own Congressmen.  The Talking Points include points such as:

“There are points that you can’t see in the video… “

“What was the motivation?..”

“This is clearly the work of the Republican Party and the ‘interviewer’ is clearly a low level staffer or intern. That’s what explains blurring the face of the “interviewer” and refusing to identify the entity this was done for…”

“Push hard w/ blogs the lack of credibility inherent to anything Breitbart does/posts, given its role in the debunked ACORN videos”  (debunked?  Hardly!)

I’m surprised that the Democrats would choose this situation as one worthy of defense!  I think it’s pretty clear to almost everybody that no amount of spin can possibly make this look better and attaching themselves to the controversy is only going to get them dirty as well.

A Republican would have been ruined in this instance.  But a Democrat obviously becomes a hero to their party.  I grew up hearing that liberalism is a mental disorder and I think this proves it.

Update 1:

Washington, DC, Jun 14 – U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) released the following statement on the viral video which appeared on the internet today:

“I have seen the video posted on several blogs.  I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved.  Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response.  I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”

I guess he just saw his political life flash before his eyes!  By the way, from what I can tell, he has a very good Conservative candidate running hard for his position and I’m sure right about now she is feeling like her birthday came early!  You can find out more about Renee Ellmer here.

How do these people make it to Washington?  Or perhaps they are beginning to feel the consequential heat of their decisions?  Democrat Congressman from North Carolina, Bob Etheridge, is walking past a student asking him a legitimate question, “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?” The Congressman, very aggressively grabs the young man and demands, “Who are you?  Who are you?” The student repeatedly asks to be released and the Congressman continues to tussle with him, refusing to let go.  And it’s done in such a way that one must wonder if he’s at full mental capacity.

It is doubtful that while this kind of behavior is definitely newsworthy, especially to the residents of North Carolina, this probably won’t get run on the mainstream media.   It’s my opinion that this Congressman should have his next interview from a DC jail cell and the young man who was assaulted should be praised for showing such restraint.

Good news! I just saw this on Cavuto on Fox this afternoon! So it did get national coverage. Let's see if any of the rest of the media picks it up. This kid should absolutely press charges. This is illegal!

  • Radoc

What's the supprise democrats are not tobe questioned. They are our superiors. Their leader is the Onited one.

  • iloveamerica1980

Those kids should be respectful to an adult.
They are just putting on a show for the camera.

    • LibertyBrittany

Respectful? Surely you are being facetious?

    • Dr. Dave

@iloveamerica1080…Are you kidding. How much more respectful can a young college person be than to refer to this drunk as Congressman and Sir when asking a question of him. He may not have wanted to answer the question because it would be too revealing, but to physically assault the student is unpardonable. In most other circumstances, this would be grounds for arrest and charges to be prosecuted. But not in D.C. and not a U.S. Congressman. If you North Carolinians have any self-respect, this guy will be railroaded back to Podunk, NC.

I agree. Congressman Etheridge is my rep and although I have never voted for him, I have seen this video and find his actions reprehensible. I have emailed his congressional office and demanded he resign. It won't happen, but I get the satisfaction of giving this do nothing congressman from my district, my feelings. he continues to add the burden of DC policies on North Carolinians (tax hikes, a broken state budget) and its time for him to go. Hopefully, the next election will have a good candidate to replace him, preferrably from the other party!

        • LibertyBrittany

Well, there is a great woman who is running against him and even before this video was posted had a great chance at winning. Renee Ellmers- you can learn more about her here: . I would urge you to get involved with her campaign!!

Agree, they should respect OTHER adults. But they were dealing not with an adult, but a democrat.

What struck me was when the young man kept saying I am a student and this is a project and the Congressman just got a stronger hold. He could have used the moment to teach, but he was too paranoid. That is what happens when your message is messed up, you don't care about the message as much as you care about who is asking the question.
