Another Tea Party Win

by Chris Bounds on September 1, 2010

Incumbent Republican Senator from Alaska Lisa Murkowski conceded yesterday to Joe Miller.

Joe Miller was a tea party favorite, backed by the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin to help defeat Murkowski who was pegged as part of the problem in Washington.  The tea party movement has been instrumental in helping conservative candidates win the primaries, but this marks the first time it has ousted a sitting Senator in the primary.

Miller campaigned on boosting Alaska’s state sovereignty but reducing its dependency on federal funding and helping shift the power out of Washington back to the states.  In a statement, Miller said:

“Now is the time for all Alaskans to come together and reach out with our core message of taking power from the federal government and bringing it back home to the people. If we continue to allow the federal government to live beyond its means, we will all soon have to live below ours.”

This should send another chill down the spines of big government, big spending politicians in Washington.  Your days in office are numbered.
