Obama, The Queen, And The Super Awkward Toast

This is a great mid-week laugh!  Between the attempted Irish accents, the dating of the Westminster Abby registry as 2008, and this very awkward toast to the Queen of England, Obama is making quite a name for himself abroad.  If this man were a Republican, these moments would be on a 24 hour loop on the mainstream media networks and SNL would already have their parodies ready to prove how “stupid” this president was.  But, he is a Democrat and so you won’t see these clips accept via the internet.

This particular moment reminds you, first and foremost, that without his teleprompter Obama is not quite so eloquent.  Reading off note cards just isn’t as impressive.

President Obama gave this toast to Queen Elizabeth II and guests at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace Tuesday. After the president took a long pause, the orchestra starting playing “God Save the Queen” presumably too soon. The President continued speaking over the anthem, causing an awkward moment at the elegant dinner.

Watch him as he raises his glass to toast the Queen and then realizes that he’s been ignored in favor of the anthem.  Hilarious!
