The feud between Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich is only getting more intense in the final days before Iowa voters decide on their Republican nominee. Paul has been relentlessly attacking Gingrich’s record and hypocrisy. The ads have been more than just a thorn in the side of Gingrich given his small slide in the polls. On the other hand Gingrich has done a good job maintaining a positive, on point campaign. However, when Gingrich was asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer if he would support Paul if he got the nomination, Gingrich takes the opportunity to throw some heavy punches:
Did Gingrich overswing by suggesting that would not support Paul if it came down to him verses Obama? Although he dodged the direct answer with “that’s not going to happen” his feelings towards Paul are clear. Actually his feelings towards Paul’s views on foreign policy are about the same as every other Republican candidate on the stage – and their supporters! Let’s not forget that Paul has never officially ruled out a third-party run if he loses the Republican nomination.
