Iowa Race Is One To Watch: Female Underdog VS Smug, Big Govt, Obama Supporting Lawyer

Iowa Race Is One To Watch: Female Underdog VS Smug, Big Govt, Obama Supporting Lawyer Image

The breathtaking question we are waiting to see answered is…. Will Iowa make history and elect it’s first female to a statewide position?  America loves a good underdog story.  A story that reflects a victor despite all of the odds being stacked against them and it’s even more salacious when that underdog is a woman with a strength and fortitude to take on a condescending, smug, big government, Obama supporting lawyer.

The Senate race in Iowa is just that story and it should grab your attention and prompt your vocal and even financial support.  Joni Ernst is a female Republican candidate previously involved in a full and contentious primary race this past early summer.  Ernst, who is active military and a wife and mom to three kids, didn’t stand a chance to win a primary outright that was overloaded with five candidates all vying for and splitting Iowa votes.  She was out-fundraised and the deck was stacked heavily against her.  Everyone assumed that the primary, with five candidates in the race, would automatically go to the convention because logistically speaking not one single candidate could possibly get the required majority votes.

However, Ernst is a woman not to be underestimated.  In a last minute Hail Mary, the Ernst campaign scraped together a mere $9,000 to air an ad that, by showing her strength, her brains, and her wit (in which she expresses her desire to castrate the pigs in Washington so we can all hear them squeal- if that doesn’t make a man’s head swivel, nothing will) immediately went viral and shot her to national attention – which in a bellwether move, miraculously won her an outright show-stopping primary victory.

But now she’s head to head with Democrat Bruce Braley in a left-leaning state that once again puts her in an underdog position.

Bruce Braley is an abrasive, condescending man that even the democrats have a hard time tolerating.  He’s on record as saying that Senator Grassley is only “a farmer from Iowa, who never went to law school.”  Oh gasp…imagine that, a man of the people serving the people instead of a big special
interest trial lawyer.  Not the most brilliant statement for a man asking for votes from a state full of farmers, but certainly a comment made by a man who thinks very highly of himself.

Mr. Unlikeable Braley happened across the perfect match for him when he found Mrs. Unlikeable Braley.

This spring, Pauline Hampton, one of Braley’s Holiday Lake neighbors, stopped by his second home to offer a dozen fresh, organic eggs produced by her prize chickens.

That’s when things went horribly wrong, reports The Washington Post.

Braley’s wife, Carolyn, answered the door. According to Hampton, Carolyn Braley responded to the gracious egg offer by saying, “We aren’t going to accept your eggs — and we have filed a formal complaint against you.”

Why? Because the neighbor’s chickens happened to wander over to their vacation property on Holiday Lake, a resort community.  A complaint that the Braley’s never previously voiced to the “offender.”  Someone needs to get this couple the book on “How To Win Friends and Influence People.”  Narcissism is an ugly, ugly trait.

Braley has a record of adoring massive government and those who are far leftist in Iowa, who choose to vote for a living, would be happy having him represent their big government/smaller individual ideology.  But what about those Iowans who aren’t far left?  What about those who fall more towards the center?  How could they possibly be satisfied in electing a man who is doing everything he can to tuck in the extremism until after the campaign?  Thankfully, he has a record that we can refer to.

Braley, as a full blown Obama supporter, was the last person to speak on the floor in support of Obamacare.  He stands by his support, despite the overwhelming unpopularity of the 20,000 page bill.  Further, his campaigns have a majority of funding coming from corporate lobbyist and lawyers, so it’s no wonder he’s been a long time serious opponent of tort reform.  That simply wouldn’t be in his, or those who live inside of his pockets, best interests.

Braley isn’t just a moderate pro-choicer- he is an intense abortion advocate.  He’s received a 100% rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood.  Most likely because his extreme abortion views prompted him to vote “yes” on taxpayer funded abortions and “no” on the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2012, which allows abortion based solely on the gender of the baby.  Sex selection, otherwise known as gendercide, has wiped out females throughout the world- but, the cries of War on Women remain silent on that front from the liberal side of the aisle.  And, Bruce Braley is apparently an ardent fan.

He has an “F” rating from the NRA, supported the 2009 government stimulus, and holds a 33% rating from the American Farm Bureau Federation.

He was nationally mocked and derided during the 2013 government shutdown for complaining, not about any life changing services that were put on an indefinite pause for the American people…no, of course not…his tantrum was due to the lack of House gym services and the cancellation of his fresh towels.  This is your Democrat “public servant” in action.  He’s been reduced to a parody on Kimmel and a national embarrassment to even the Democrats.

In stark contrast, Ernst, after spending 21 years serving her country in the military, of which 14 months were spent in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi
Freedom, has no problem reusing a dirty towel.  She is very vocal about her support in replacing Obamacare with free market choices, carries an “A”
rating from the NRA, is a strong supporter of reclaiming Iowa’s sovereignty over federal mandates, calls for a simpler and fairer tax code, she is
pro-life, and believes that same sex marriage is a state issue (not a federal one).

More importantly, her endorsements by both the Chamber of Commerce and the Senate Conservative Fund (two groups who rarely collude with each other) shows that she has the remarkable and sought after ability to build coalitions and work to find common ground.  An attribute not to be dismissed in otherwise polarizing city like Washington.

If Joni Ernst can pull off this victory against lawyer, big establishment, big interest, Bruce Braley it will be an enormous victory for Republicans and a foretaste of other seats we can take in the Senate.  More importantly, as the first female to hold a statewide seat in Iowa, it will be a historic, ground breaking, glass ceiling shattering win for women!  Women like Joni Ernst don’t have to attempt a win by victimizing themselves with a “war on women” card. They simply go after the win using their skills, talents, convictions, and brains. And I have no doubt that by doing just that she can pull this win off too.
