We were thrilled during this last election when Republicans ushered in a tidal wave of historic wins- mostly among women and minorities. We fought the faux liberal “War on Women” and we won the battle of the ballot box. It was exhilarating and we celebrated. Our expectations were set and we finally had the army we needed to create and push conservative legislation and create both solid and symbolic votes.
That is, until one of the greatest blows to both life and conservative principles came at the destructive hands of Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) and Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) when they hijacked the HR 36 Bill, a bill designed to protect life and ban abortions after 20 weeks under the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
What she did was so revolting and devastating to the pro life movement that it rightly earned her the new shame title Abortion Barbie -on loan from Wendy Davis. And I’d say that her Barbie comes with a complete set of late term bloody abortion tools and her own set of fetal display jars – Gosnell style, with perhaps a check from Planned Parenthood under the table as a free toy bonus.
Ellmers didn’t like being held accountable and in her arrogance, she fought back against those of us who opposed her betrayal by calling us “abhorrent and childish.” I’d advise her to begin brushing up on her resume. She’s going to need it in a couple of years and I will personally be doing everything I can to turn her into an unemployment statistic.
As I have written before, the other GOP Congresswomen had a responsibility to tuck their skirts in and lead on these issues-with or without Ellmers. This was their chance to do something momentous. Something worthwhile. Many of the women, both new and old, in Congress disgustingly caved under the bullish tactics of Elmers leaving women like me and other outspoken females in politics furious and ashamed at sharing gender with those who proved to be spineless under pressure. They know who they are and they will have to put their heads on their pillows at night knowing that they had a direct hand in the continuing slaughter of millions of infants, capable of feeling pain, and literally days away from being able to survive outside of the womb. God help them.
Unfortunately, because the women in Congress failed to lead a man has been forced to take up the mantle that was apparently too heavy for them to carry. And yes, that’s not meant to sound flattering. It’s instances like this which prove to me that I don’t care what color or gender you are. Leaders lead and I will throw my weight behind someone with guts before gender any day!
Alex Mooney (R-W.Va.) isn’t resting on his laurels over this. He is seizing the opportunity and has created a clear and simplistic two-page bill called Life At Conception Act.
The ‘Life at Conception Act’ would implement protection for the right to life of each born and preborn human person, according to the bill’s text. It cites the 14th Amendment as the means for protection….
“The terms ‘human person’ and ‘human being’ include each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.”
In other words, it is a piece of legislation that relies on straightforward science, not politics:
“You don’t have to put on a religious lens, you don’t have to put on a political lens. You can look at it simply as a biologist.”
As much as the liberal left and their cohorts in media would like to distract from this growing statistic, it’s now becoming much more popular to be pro-life. The battle of public opinion has done a a drastic right turn and is now solidly in our favor, especially when you factor in late term abortions and tax payer funded abortions.
States are ushering in new legislation every year that goes further and further to protect the unborn life. Science has evolved to a point where it simply cannot be ignored and previous generations consumed with self-want, instant gratification, abortions for birth control, free love without consequence is becoming irrelevant in the face of a younger generation who is refusing to ignore the overwhelming amounts of science that proves life begins at conception and goes even further to prove that babies feel pain in the womb. The old and ignorant liberal talking point of “life doesn’t begin until a baby is born” is now resulting in mockery. And more importantly, a generation that has never known life without abortion being culturally “acceptable” are beginning to reconsider this barbaric practice that leaves a baby dead, a young woman wounded for life, and an irresponsible man off the hook.
The pro-life youth trend first emerged in the early 2000s. In 2003, Gallup polled Americans between the ages of 13 and 17 and found that they overwhelmingly believed that abortion was morally wrong (including, Secular Pro-Life is pleased to note, those teens who did not attend church). Moreover, they weren’t just “personally pro-life”; they wanted legal limits on abortion. It was a sign of things to come.
This new bill being introduced and carried by Mooney has already proven to be well received with 130 co-sponsors last year, including one pro-life Democrat. With valiant efforts like this, led by strong and willing hearts, it is my hope that history will prove us the generation who gave back the LIFE in the Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!
