By now we’ve all heard the remarks made by Mayor Giuliani questioning Obama’s love for America. Obviously a blunt statement that has inflamed the masses, both denouncing his comments and defending them. But it stirred the heart of one young man…a black middle schooler by the name of CJ Pearson who gave a stirring and powerfully delivered speech as to his opinion on the statement.
I’m more than a little blown away by the passion and eloquence of this young man. For those of you who reject Giuliani’s statement accusing Obama of not loving America, while I understand the inflammatory and nervous reaction, let me pose this to you… If you love someone do you continually try to change every facet of who they are? Would you defend them if they were being physically attacked or would you simply sit idly by and shrug your shoulders at the bloody wounds on their person. Would you feel so compelled to rewrite their history in order to demonstrate your own biases? Would you strip them of everything that made them the person that they are today in order to mold them to your pleasure. Most would agree… That doesn’t fit most definitions of love.
Now consider what Obama has done to fundamentally change the fabric of America. He has worked diligently to strip us of the very things that made us the greatest nation, the shining city on a hill, that has been a beacon of hope to the rest of the world. He has pitted cultures and race against each other in order to further his own agenda. He has failed in every way to defend our nation and our people against the most deadliest of terrorist attacks- both at home and abroad. Is this love? If so, I’d say it’s a very warped version of it.
Now, listen to what the young Mr. Pearson has to say:
