CINO: Christians In Name Only -Abandoning Biblical Principles To Vote Trump

CINO: Christians In Name Only -Abandoning Biblical Principles To Vote Trump Image

I am well aware of the backlash that I’m about to receive over this piece.  And it will be accompanied by a flood of quoted-out of context Bible verses that people have used for millenniums in an effort to excuse bad behavior from consequence or scrutiny.  So, if your fingers were poised and ready to hit the send button on that—save it.  I’m completely uninterested in knowing how Scripturally illiterate you are.

RINO. A term that people have been using to label people who are anti-Trumpers but originally used to identify people under a category who do not behave as one they claim to be.  Because if one doesn’t support the billionaire playboy, one must be a Republican In Name Only.  Forget that he isn’t a Republican- that’s just a quiet little sidenote.

This election has brought a far more legitimate term to the table.

CINO. Christians In Name Only.  The sector of “evangelicals” who have abandoned every Biblical admonition when seeking a leader and is far more of an appropriate term in this election.

Men and women who I personally know who attend church and teach Sunday School, never miss a Wednesday night service, and pride themselves on tithing- have suddenly decided that their treasured Biblical principles do not apply to their voting habits.
These same men and women have often eviscerated President Obama for being “Muslim” or not being Christian enough are willingly voicing the opinion that they will give “The Donald” the benefit of the doubt because he’s embarrasingly scrounged up the dusty Bible that he picked up in his last hotel room and is shaking it on national television, pandering to shallow Christian thinkers all over the country.

They have lost the ability to think for themselves and have given their wills over to leaders in the Christian community who will go down in history as loosely tied to their convictions, beliefs, and morals and most likely have a mysterious boost in funds in some remote 501c3.

Men like Jerry Falwell Jr and Dr. Robert Jeffress have decided to throw their weight behind electing a man who has bragged that his personal Vietnam was dodging STD’s, conducted multiple affairs that has left him with many splintered families, praises the leader of America’s death culture on a regular basis, Planned Parenthood, cheated and scammed his way to wealth, has owned multiple strip clubs, and brags that he has never felt the need to ask God for forgiveness.  This is a man who has been accused of sexual harassment twice as many times as Bill Clinton, a vulgar and profane man without any moral compass to guide any of his decisions, mocks the handicap, has proclaimed that he pushes for revenge as “viciously and violently” that he can, and has routinely verbally degraded women he comes in contact with.

Hillary Clinton should have been the degenerate in this election. But she looks like a Sunday School teacher next to this depraved and debauched man.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Proverbs 29:2

This election has not only shown the world that an astounding number of American Christians are so loosely tied to their beliefs, it’s been a testament to non-believers who are watching us and wondering how we could voluntarily ask for a man like this to represent and preside over our country.  People from across the aisle see us as hypocrites with tenuous holds on the beliefs we claim to hold so dear.

CINO.  Christians In Name Only… who travel without their principles, give their moral obligation to make solid decisions based upon their convictions over to leaders in the “industry,” and will be responsible for the consequences of putting a Godless ruler in authority over a nation built on Judeo-Christian principles.

Let me be clear. I don’t require a Christian president. But I do require a moral one.

I think they should remember David whom God actually put in place as KING… And David was … a Womanizer

  • ahva

Can she name a moral President? One who on all counts does the Christian thing? NO. Can Miss Pounders explain why the BEST President of my life.. A democrat, was such a womanizer and even gang banged in the WH . Did such a good job as President? JFK. No, she is not old enough to. It’s not a man’s sexual life that runs the country. It’s not the sexual conduct that shows a patriot..

    • CharlesHouston

JFK said some good things but LBJ (a severely compromised person) got the legislation approved. Probably the most moral President in a LONG time was Truman. He started as a product of a political machine, he did what he had to do to end a terrible war, he helped the US retool after the war, and he did it honestly.

  • http://www.midnightministries.com/ Robert Harris

Are you a Democrat and name Christ as your Savior? The Bible plainly states that life is in the blood. In fact, when an embryo attaches to the uterine wall and then develops its own blood source (The mother’s blood never mixes with the embryo’s blood.), the embryo has life (Lev. 17:11). Actually the human embryo ordinarily begins to have a heart beat at the 22nd day. Therefore, to abort babies who have developed their own blood source, for the sake of birth control, is to take life. In suit, a vote for a woman’s right to abort, where the mother’s life is not in danger, is a vote to take life. In clearer terms, it is a vote for the satanic works of darkness justifying murder.

In sync, abortion isn’t just birth control; it is premeditated murder. In late term abortions doctors have been known to pierce the head of the baby and suck their brains out—others have been known to just crush the skull—THEN RIP THE BABY FROM THE WOMB. Women’s rights? How about the female fetus’s rights who is denied life and outright torn from life? Isaiah wrote, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isa. 5:20).

Hillary Clinton advocates late term abortions, and this is very, very evil! Sure Trump was a womanizer when he was younger; and his decades old flippant disregard of women as people has come to light in some instances; many women miraculously accusing him of groping the closer the election gets. Of course, we don’t know if those allegations are true. But one thing we do know and that is he isn’t a murderer; he doesn’t advocate or condone the horrendous death of the unborn like Hillary does. Think of it, modern medical science can’t manufacture a human heart—they can’t even begin to build a human heart and its two billion cells. BUT THERE ARE DOCTORS WHO TAKE FORCEPS IN THEIR HANDS AND MURDER, AND NOT ONLY DO THEY MURDER, THEY MURDER DAILY WITHOUT CONSCIENCE, all justified because the victim is unborn. To date in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, there are over 50 million deaths of babies by abortion—IT IS THE BIGGEST SHAME THE UNITED STATES HAS EVER HAD. Vote Trump! And if you are a Christian who names Christ, don’t test the Grace of God and vote for murder. Don’t you dare justify the murderous slaughter of abortion!

When approximately 40% of pastors struggle with pornography and only God knows how many of their church members, pots calling kettles black. We’re not voting for a new Pastor. The heart of rulers are in the hand of God. To call Christians who vote for Trump CINOs is to show an ignorance of biblical text. Apparently, you have overlooked the gamut of deplorable human beings God used. Get off your high horse!

  • Trond Larsen

There is not a single man or woman moral enough in the race to lead the country. Show me a faultless Christian, Jew or who ever for that matter. But when it comes down to buyers and liars, I’ll vote for the patriot every time. Why? Because he has his own self interests at heart, not foreigners, and for that alone Donald Trump deserves our vote. You cannot bring a fools argument into politics for there is no morality and their motives are entirely secular and mostly selfish. Any one of those leaders who would open the porous borders even more are foreign sycophants, and that includes Cruz.

  • Loren Brown

Complete foolishness. Trump calls himself a Christian and the fruit checkers want to play God. Well, “man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.” Sorry but a Christian is a Christian “by grace through faith” in Christ alone, not by any work, including who I vote for. Don’t like Trump; don’t vote for Him, but don’t play God…you’re under qualified. By the way, don’t flatter yourself…there’s no backlash, just Christians voting their conscience who don’t like name calling or manipulative tactics.

  • Gerald Davis

Thou shalt not bear false witness. We have to be very careful when throwing accusations around. We should not think of ourselves more highly than we ought. Are you certain YOUR interpretations are perfect and others are “scripturally illiterate”? Do these words build or edify? We have come to a bad place when we now judge our brothers and sisters not on their faith in Jesus Christ, but on whether they vote like we do.

  • Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

I want to preface this remark by noting that I am not a Trump support. In fact, I’m not an anybody supporter.

However, it’s getting very tiresome to see people cheapen the name of Jesus Christ by using it as a talisman to try to coerce people into voting for one particular candidate or another. Essentially, “if you love Jesus, then you’ll vote for Ted Cruz” is the case that is usually made by most of these folks. What a crass, worldly use of the name of Christ.

Fact is, if I really wanted to, I could make a “why Christians shouldn’t vote for” case about ANY of the people running, including Ted Cruz, he of the globalist agenda, dominionist theology, and victory parties held in liquor joints.

In an interview Chris Cuomo on CNN after a Thursday night’s primary debate, the billionaire Republican presidential frontrunner suggested that the IRS might be persecuting him because he is “a strong Christian.”

“But the one problem I have is I am always audited by the IRS, which I think is very unfair,” Trump said. “I don’t know — maybe because of religion, maybe because of something else, maybe because I am doing this [running for office], though this is just recently.”

Asked to clarify what he meant when he said he might be being audited because of religion, Trump replied: “Well, maybe because of the fact I am a strong Christian and I feel strongly about it, and maybe there is a bias.”

“Come out of her, my people!” Christians have NO BUSINESS giving their consent (by voting) to this system and to these people.

  • Mary

He also bragged to Howard Stern that he “could have had Princess Diana”. He filled her room with roses and she found him creepy to the point of being a stalker.

  • A casual observer

This is not at all surprising. The American church, in general, has created a culture of Christianity that is more about being entertained than having a relationship with Christ and being an impact in their community. Rather than equipping, the church has been more about performance and programs.
The Church, as described in the Bible, is a living organism. What we have in America, for the most part, are organizations that have Church-like qualities.
Looking at this culture of Christianity, is it really that surprising that convictions are easily swayed?

  • http://midutahradio.com Brad James

nice job Brittany 🙂 I am a Christian too and it’s obvious that Trump is not Christlike. Christ championed womanhood and didn’t mock people. All Trump does is treat women like his sexual slaves and make fun of people who have disabilities and other ailments.

  • CentralCASue

Ms. Pounders, you are not alone. Thank you for standing up; being counted and giving fair warning.

“When Christians face two clearly immoral options, we cannot rationalize a vote for immorality or injustice just because we deem the alternative to be worse. The Bible tells us we will be held accountable not only for the evil deeds we do but also when we “give approval to those who practice them” (Rom. 1:32).

This side of the New Jerusalem, we will never have a perfect candidate. But we cannot vote for evil, even if it’s our only option.” -Russell Moore

Very well said. Sadly, I think it’s pretty spot on. Those who need to see it the most, will be blind to it.

  • bobmigs

Actually God anointed Saul unlike the self anointed Ted. God has harsh words for those that opposed Saul. Look it up. If your going to quote it get it right !!

    • http://midutahradio.com Brad James

the prophet Samuel later rebuked Saul for choosing to sacrifice over being obedient. Saul was the Lord’s anointed, yes, but he fell from his appointment.

    • RJShank

Yeah, but the argument is that the people (Christians) argued for a king when that was not God’s intention. He gave them what they would want, but David was His choice.
This election is so much about what God wants, not us! We much pray right in order to vote right.

  • bobmigs

backlash Brittany ? No no backlash. We simply dont care what you think. I dont know who is worse a lying politician or a sef righteous pharisee.

    • Rusty.Not

You helped us decide. You are worse than both.

    • CharlesHouston

The worst thing is a morals-free hypocrite like bobmigs – a person who would give power to a conman like Donald just to hope that he would share your anger

  • terrisarten

    Very good observation.

  • Terry Morris

    …and she’s from Texas.

    Brittany, BINGO!

  • M Didaskalos

Yes, Republicans have nominated RINO candidates like John McCain and Mitt Romney, but they were decent men. Populist, liberal, dilettante, licentious self-promoter Trump has been aptly pegged as the “King of Sleaze”: http://townhall.com/columnists/rebeccahagelin/2016/02/28/meet-donald-trump-the-king-of-sleaze-n2126157/page/full

“. . . That’s right, if the GOP continues down this path of madness we will have a presidential nominee that degrades women, has bragged about his adultery, has made money off of strip tease shows, and a First Lady that has posed totally nude.

“It’s no wonder that Donald Trump still supports and extols the virtues of Planned Parenthood, the organization that betrays women and girls at the most vulnerable time in their lives; the organization that encourages our teen daughters to be sexually active; the organization that is now notorious for selling baby body parts. It is the very philosophy of Planned Parenthood that Donald Trump uses to justify his decadent lifestyle choices. To both, women are largely sexual objects and men are allowed to treat them that way.

“This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg of how truly sleazy Donald Trump is. If I know these things, then the mainstream media with its army of investigative journalists knows much, much more. But don’t look for them to report on it now – they are salivating for the GOP to nominate Trump for the presidency because it will feed their feminist, liberal narrative that the GOP is engaging in a “war on women”. Rest assured, the truth about Trump will then be headlines and the fantasy war on women will become a credible narrative. And whichever liberal, socialist Democratic candidate is nominated will easily be elected President of the United States. Worse still, every Evangelical leader who cozied up to Mr. Trump and was seduced into supporting him will be embarrassed and shamed, and the body of Christ will suffer.

“I’ve spent much of my adult life fighting pornography because it is evil; because it victimizes and degrades women and destroys men and families. It is beyond tragic that so many of my Republican and Christian brothers and sisters have forgotten that it is the moral fiber of a country that determines its ultimate destiny. If the GOP disregards moral, principled leaders in favor of one who promises only great riches, then we deserve neither.

Yes, Donald Trump promises to “Make America Great Again”. What he and his supporters fail to realize is that America will never be great again, if we are not first good again.”

  • chevymon77

    #NeverTrump

    • Duncan Collinsworth

You’re voting for the guy who will “make the sand glow” for Jesus, right?

      • Rusty.Not

        Where’s the beef?

  • chevymon77

    Truth

  • Garth Aamodt

And many of these same evagelicals wouldn’t vote for Romney because he was Mormon. His service for years as a missionary, bishop and volunteer for his church, paying 10%+ tithe all his life, which years of unpaid deviotion to his discipleship, still left many evangelicals–now voting for Trump–turning their backs to let Obama win in 2012. Apparently the “by their fruits ye shall know them” is a verse too many so-called Christians have forgotten

    • http://midutahradio.com Brad James

I am a Mormon Christian. I appreciate your words friend. God bless you 🙂

      • Duncan Collinsworth

You’re one or the other Brad. Can’t be both.

        • ahva

If they follow the morals of Christ. They are good with me, don’t care about theology. I listen to Christ.

      • Rusty.Not

Mormons worship a different Jesus, along with a whole book instead of the Bible.

        In one word, cult.

  • ConservativeSurge

LOL, a “moral” U.S. president. You must be new to this country…Welcome!

    • bobmigs

Todays Christians are very much like their ancestors the Pharisees So full of self righteous nonsense they can only see the law! Too bad their founder spoke of grace and unmerited mercy

      • http://midutahradio.com Brad James

and the woman taken in adultery, think about that story if you will. When Christ heard her case, He said, go and sin no more. As far as I know, the woman repented but Trump would have been like the Pharisees and stoned her when in all likelihood, he would have been the one who laid with her. Ye know them by their fruits: another Christian maxim.

        • Garth Aamodt

Funny you cite that verse about judging by “good fruits” but above you condemned the good fruits of Romney, because you judged him as unworthy because he’s a Mormon, instead of judging his fruits. Seems inconsistent to me. Do you get to pick and choose when you apply the bible verse?

      • Rusty.Not

A huge brush you wield, bob; lumping all Christians in the same lifeboat.

BTW, To which church do you affiliate, and what are your credentials to make such a pompous statement?

  • Sarah L

Perfectly stated, just let me and mine be part of a remnant that has the words of Jesus written on our hearts, so that when we see and hear some of the horrid propositions and opinions being espoused by someone like Trump, our entire bodies, souls, and spirits cringe, and we choose to take the lonely road of standing on Love and Principle over power and the promise of riches.
